Providing Internet Connectivity

Chak Faiz

The W4C programme at Chaz Faiz village is the pilot project which was started to test the effect of bringing wireless internet to the small rural community. Chaz Faiz is located at a 20 miles distance from the city of Multan, Pakistan. The community had limited access to the Internet and it was not being used for any activities as part of their daily lives. In the W4C project, besides the setup of free wireless internet, smart tablets were also distributed amongst families from the community. The W4C team also visited the local schools for both girls and boys to tell them about the newly available Internet service and how they can benefit from it. This service will provide access to over 400 students from the village. The community overall was very excited and motivated to utilize different online services. The pilot project has been a success and the initial reports show that the community members are actively using the Internet. Trainings are planned for the community on how to effectively use the Internet and access local content. More updates will be posted as they come in.
