The Wireless for Communities programme has taken on the mission to address the issue of last mile connectivity, democratize the availability of connectivity, and enable internet accessibility and information decentralization. The programme aims to deploy at least one wireless mesh network in a cluster environment to target a community and enable the benefits and impact of the Internet over time. We plan to generate support from relevant public and private agencies to adopt wireless network to reach out to rural communities with broadband connectivity and services. The project will work towards capacity building through Training programs and Training of Trainers (ToTs) on Wireless technologies and Wireless mesh network. The programme will also help initiate dialogue on the advantage of Wireless networks as an alternative solution to provide connectivity to remote and underserved communities.
