Wireless for Communities (W4C) is an initiative of Internet Society (ISOC), Asia-Pacific Bureau and COMSATS Internet Services (CIS) that utilizes low-cost Wi-Fi based equipment to connect and empower rural and under served communities in Pakistan. The W4C programme aims to create model communities that serve as examples for the developmental role Internet can play in society. W4C also provides training to the community on content and services, and helps them maximize opportunities for development using the Internet. The pilot project is being successfully carried out in a rural community of Chak Faiz located near Multan and is following a phased approach to completely bring the benefits of the Internet to the community.
